Who Needs Emotion? (Zain) « Thread Started on Nov 5, 2009, 9:57pm »
It was rather easy to get caught up in emotions. Things like anger and happiness... They were such simple concepts that most lesser beings allowed themselves to be pulled into the facade they presented. It wasn't the foolish creatures fault they accepted these feelings as the ultimate purpose... After all, even Kensai enjoyed being 'Happy'. But that was where similarities ended between the man and any other being. There was little room for emotion when a goal was presented. No space for trying to reason or create a veil of acceptance over purpose. Emotion and feeling... They were the weaks excuse for failure.
Perhaps that was why his presence amidst the alabaster sands of Hueco Mundo. To whomever knew he was here they'd assume he was acting on impulse and emotion. Anger or rage unfortunately held no place here for Kensai Enkei. It was merely an objective that he held before him. A goal that only this wretched place could bring him closer too. Still a fair distance from the large wall of Las Noches' exterior the Commander stopped his slow walk. Feet planted themselves firmly upon the shifting sands. His left hand moved towards the hilt of one of his Zanpakuto. His eyes remained narrowed on the large fortress that more likely then not contained his goal.
As a breath was inhaled a large creature burst forth from the sand. No doubt a lesser hollow laying in wait for what it thought to be an easy meal. The white haori of the Commander fluttered momentarily before the creature let out a roar that'd be sure to alert anything within range. As the sound began to die down Kensai grinned before unsheathing his blade. "I do appreciate you helping me, it makes my job far easier." He spoke in a calm tone as the sand that had been launched up upon the beasts arrival began to hit the ground again. Not allowing it a second to charge at him the man invoked shunpo easily dashing past the creature to keep his back at it. As he returned the zanpakuto to it's sheath the creatures body split across it's midsection. The clean slice left little by way of blood, and as the beasts two parts fell towards the sand with which it'd spawned from it seemed to fade away from existence.
"Here I thought I'd need to knock on their front door. How quaint." He let his voice escape once more before his right hand made its way up to push back tendrils of black that seemed to be persistent in their attempt to obstruct his vision. It was only after a few seconds had passed that the commander's reiatsu began to grow. Releasing all the restraints he'd kept in place to keep his presence known, the man's new goal was to ensure at least one being found him here. If he had his way he'd be taking a prisoner back with him.

I got soul but...
So here Zack sat, upon the great white wall of Las noches, he lay down with his body pressing against the cold marble wall as his eyes darted from side to side as he counted the stars. Very few seemed to be present, giving the sky the usual sense of emptiness that Zack despised. His hands lay between his head and the wall, the fingers interlocking to support his head as he lay still. Why was he up here you may ask? Simple, he was hiding. He had a feeling Yukio-Sama wanted him to either do some form of training or a job for him, and at the moment Zack was simply not up to the task. Not because he was tired, simply because he was lazy. With that he slowly begun to drift between the two worlds. The real world and the world of dreams, he had to admit…The world of dreams was far better than this hellish existence. He guessed it could be worse, he could be a mindless slave to hunger, just like the hollows in the desert…At least he had his sanity.
With that the roar of a creature reached his ears, with a sudden burst of life he shot up into the sitting position. His legs hanging lifelessly over the edge of the wall as he looked out into the desert to where the sound had come from. For a moment he dis-missed the yell of pain, it was most likely the hollows fighting among one enough again. The fools, if they banded together they would in fact be a powerful unit. Shame their hunger pushed them to insanity. With that he started to lay himself back down, his back lightly touching the cool stone work before he felt. A sudden build up of reiatsu, with that he halted mid0way between sitting up and lying down. For a moment he allowed the energy to swell around him as he begun to register it, within a few seconds it became obvious that this was no common reiatsu. Nor did it belong to someone under Aizen, so it was an opponent.
With a sigh Zack slowly leaned forwards and pushed himself off of the wall, allowing gravity to grip him tightly and pull him down. The wind rushing past him as he begun to approach the sands beneath, he didn’t want to hit the ground at this speed. Zack quite liked the idea of staying a solid, becoming slush was never on his to do list. With that he pressed his feet and hands against the wall and allowed his reiatsu to trickle out, gripping at the wall and eventually slowing him down enough to let him hit the floor with little force. Not even enough to kick up a cloud of dust.
With that he looked towards the intruder, he couldn’t make him out, not even a faint figure. Yet his energy made it obvious where he was, so with that Zack begun to walk forwards. His feet pressing down on the sands as he drew closer, then without warning he darted across the deserts invoking a slowed version of Shunpo. He had no reason to go to fast, he would make himself seem weaker than he was. With that he appeared about fifth-teen foot or so before the robed man, he appeared about two inches above the sand and slowly feel to the desert. His feet causing a small cloud of sound to jump up at his entry.
With that his eyes darted around the man, it took no less than four seconds to take in the main traits of his clothing, and to get a faint idea of his fighting style. The first thing that caught his eye was the sword weapons hanging from his left hip, a faint smile spread across the face of Zack. ‘Dual weild, no wonder he had an impressive reiatsu.’
He thought to himself fondly, perhaps he was a fool for taking this man on alone…then again…perhaps Yukio would appear, that would be interesting. The next thing that caught his eye was the white haori he wore. It seemed he was a captain, yet one Zack did not know…Which was un-expected. He must have been before Zack’s time, meaning…he has had many years to train. Perhaps he was a commander… ‘Crap.’
With that his left hand ran through his hair slowly, knocking the bits of hair out of his eye as he faced the man. Meeting his eyes, then he begun to speak. A few light words fluttered from his mouth, he would try to pull the veil over this man’s eyes. Then that would make the best time to attack, then if Zack was able to defeat this commander the Arrancar would see him for his real skill.
“So commander, what brings you out here…Would it not be best if you remained at base with the others while we scouted the area.”
He said as his hands fell loosely to his side, his thumbs knitting their way into his pockets as he leaned back lightly. Showing no fear or any real caution, he wanted to seem totally relaxed. Even if his heart beat was close to its peak he did not show it, acting was one of his little skills after all. The small grin ever present on his face as he spoke to the commander. Now he waited silently for the man to reply, would he call Zack on his bluff? Or would he not be able to see through it, after all it was not the perfect guise, yet it had no major faults in it…to his knowledge at least.
With that his eyes caught the sleeve, which seemed to be a great deal longer. Hiding all of the arm from his sight, and with just that numerous questions begun to shoot through his mind. The one that was at the forefront of his mind however was, ‘what is he hiding?’

These hollow always seemed to disappoint Kensai Enkei. Whether it was in their lack of tact, or their seeming inability to comprehend tactics or plans... They always let him down. It wasn't just recently, no Aizen's little monstrosities may have not been exempt from the fact that was set in stone... But they'd not created it. It was taking far too long for anyone to come near, not so much as a single hollow dared to show itself... Had they ignored the final cry of their brethren? Or was this perhaps some sort of little ploy...
Ha. As if the hollow could concoct some sort of elaborate scheme. Like they spent their time devising ways to crush their opponents... Even Sosuke Aizen. For all that flare and show that he tried to make... He was little more then a child who'd found his father's gun. Toting it about as if he were God... Of course Kensai Enkei was one of the few who knew the fact. Aizen wasn't anything more then a traitorous dog. He was a false pretense... A self-proclaimed messiah. If Kensai could truly label the man it'd be just one word. 'Worthless'.
To assume the Commander hadn't noticed the presence of the being when it approached would have been foolish. Though he made no manner to acknowledge it his mind did reserve at least the tiniest space for maintaining knowledge someone, somewhere was watching him. Still there was no surprise attack. No utilization of the first strike... It was a cloud of sand that was created to easily alert Kensai to the presence of this lesser being... A being who to the man's shock wasn't actually a hollow. The reiatsu matched one, seemed to hold that dark heavy feeling... But the appearance. Still Kensai was far too versed in these Arrancar to believe this one to be little more then one of Aizen's new experiments.
The voice rang out and Kensai's figure shifted the slightest bit. Most of his weight leaning upon the right leg as his eyes searched the man for some sort of hint as to who he was. A response would be acceptable. Normally he'd attack, but there was some knowledge to be had... And perhaps this being could divulge it.
"At the base..." He repeated as if he didn't have the capacity to instantly assess and decide upon the perfect response. The short pause finally ended, "I was simply looking to take an evening stroll. No better a place then here correct?" He again mocked, that perfect facade used. There was so little information on the Jinchuu, at least to Kensai's intimate knowledge... Perhaps he could fool this thing into believing him one of lesser intelligence. It was only then those keen eyes picked up on the slightest ruffling of the man's shirt... The heaving motion subtle, but still displaying a rapidly beating hearts need for oxygen. Was he... Nervous?
That cold voice was prepared as Kensai's teeth flashed in a minor grin. "I must say. It's always shocking when hollow don't display their mask fragments openly. Are you ashamed of yours? Or did Aizen take those away when he robbed you of your soul?" He questioned, knowing full well such a statement wouldn't easily invoke some sort of pre-preemptive attacking. The hollow normally didn't care for their 'lord' so much as to jump to the attack over it... But this would at the very least display if the being before him was exhibiting signs of excitement... Or fear.

I know how to fight...
As he spoke he watched as the man seemed to shift his weight slightly, a small chuckle leaving the mouth of Zack as he waited for the man to respond. Perhaps he hadn’t realised Zack was approaching? Nah, that couldn’t be it…He was wearing a haori so had to be at least captain level, so he should have registered Zack’s presence a while ago, perhaps even picked up hints of his energy now and discerned a few things about him. With that the man finally spoke, it seemed as if he was thinking over the words that Zack had spoken just moments before. Did they not have a base? Had Zack made a mistake already, how sad. Then he came back to his senses, back to reason, they must have a base. They could not survive on the surface of the world scattered, there would be no one left if that was the case.
"At the base..."
When he heard the words he lightly nodded to confirm what he had said. It seemed the man did not trust him, however give it time Zack was sure he could win the man other in some way. For a moment the two waited in silence, the wind howling past them as they stood what seemed to be a life time apart. Eventually the man spoke once more, moving on to reply to the words of Zack.
“I was simply looking to take an evening stroll. No better a place then here correct?"
Zack simply smiled at the words and gave a light shrug, he could think of many better places to take a stroll. Yet he wished not to insult the man’s intelligence, he had to get the man to turn his back to him. Either turning to leave or some other reason, which will give Zack the prime opportunity to attack, hopefully slay, one of these leading figure heads. As he ran the words through his mind once more he picked something up, a tone of mocking. Had he simply been playing with him? It seemed as if the man had assumed he was the enemy, even though he was a shinigami. Perhaps his acting skills were not as great as he had once hoped, what a shame, a real shame. It would have been interesting to see how the man reacted, his sensei had taught him not to run head first into a fray like he used to. It would only get him killed, yet at the moment it seemed like a very good idea.
"I must say. It's always shocking when hollow don't display their mask fragments openly. Are you ashamed of yours? Or did Aizen take those away when he robbed you of your soul?"
He raised an eyebrow at the words and quickly raised his arms and faced his hands out as if telling the man to stop, he thought he was a hollow? How amusing, perhaps Zack hadn’t hit a dead end after all. From what he knew, he was the only shinigami in the ranks of Aizen, even if he hated the man. After a moment or two his arms fell down a little as he begun to speak, a small laugh leaving his lips before the words wisped past.
“You think I am a hollow sir? I assure you that is not the case, I was the vice-captain of the sixth division just before the war.” He said with a cool tone, his heart beat once again racing quickly within him. Beating against his very ribs as if it wanted to jump out to escape.
“I will happily prove this to you sir. If you have a way.”
He said with a somewhat cheesy smile spreading across his face as he looked towards the commander, a billion thoughts were running through his mind now. He had a strong fear that the man would just dart at him now, which was not nice. The idea of a possible commander charging him caused the hairs to stand on the back of his neck. Slowly, his hand fell upon the handle of his weapon as if using it as a rest. Making it look as natural as possible, but his hand was there for a reason. Not if he needed to draw his weapon quickly, but when he had to draw it quickly. He would stand his ground on this case, if the man was sure he was a hollow then he would have most likely attacked. Right?
“Do you not recognise me?”
He asked lightly, trying to place some doubt within the mind of the man. Doubt was a very powerful thing on the battle field, it had many effects on a person. It could cause them to stop dead in their tracks, take a second longer to react than normal. Even if small, it still would tip the balance in Zack’s favour. Which was what he needed right now.

Kensai Enkei was what many would call a cynical being. There was no such thing as perfection, as peace, or even bliss. There was duty. And then there was what your duty requested of you. The grey area so many even within the ranks of the Jinchuu tried to claim existed did not to the Commander. It was so easy to make excuses and as far as he could see playing into that neutral aspect was just another means of such. It was for these facts that his attention was always so keen. That his gaze rarely faltered, and that the man was always searching for flaws and weaknesses. If someone like himself had them, was it really arrogance to believe everyone else did?
The mere taste this man's reiatsu left in Kensai's mouth was enough to hint that he was anything but a Shinigami. Sure the attire and the zanpakuto could offer a rebuttal to such a concept, but the Arrancar hadn't always wielded zanpakuto either. His presence here within Hueco Mundo, approaching the Commander like some sort of guard dog ready to attack on it's masters call... No, there were no words this foolish child could try and corrupt that would convince Kensai he was just like him. Still the facade needed to be maintained, and at the first mention of the sixth squad a heavy sigh was purposefully exhaled.
"Well that's quite the relief." He spoke as his hand moved to toss some of his hair from his view. "Here I thought you were another hollow. And the sixth? How have you survived here?" He continued not once dropping the tone of relief.
Those eyes continued to watch his prey. Watching as every slight change amidst the creature before him's body continued to indicate fear or excitement. It wasn't too far fetched to believe the man wanted to fight. If he was a hollow as his location and reiatsu suggested... Well he'd love fighting right? And if this was fear... Well that could have been the reason Kensai wasn't on the defensive right now. At the very least this man seemed to understand that he wasn't quite up to par with his opponent. Perhaps it was finally time to make a move?
His claim at the commander being unable to recognize a face was the first mistake. One of the most fatal one could make against someone like Kensai Enkei. He'd made a grave assumption. The assumption that even on the most basic of levels that he was even partially similar to the face he'd presented. This was not some delicately aged hollow that was going to feast upon the Commander's bones... This was just a child who didn't comprehend war. His eyes narrowed as the hand moved in a seemingly relaxed manner to the hilt of his weapon. Kensai's left hand mirroring the action as his zanpakuto was allowed to rest beneath his hand.
"You realize," Kensai interrupted the silence, "I was a former Captain of the Sixth division." He spoke out in a colder tone then he'd used previously. He'd made an insult with the faux move of his hand to his weapon. "Such an action. Maybe the sixth division changed when I left it, but such an action would never be acceptable towards one of higher rank." Kensai's stern outlook on the rules finally shined through the veil of deception. There was no purpose to this trivial bantering. It was time to put up or run away, and he never was one for running away.
His left leg tensed slightly before a cloud of sand was ushered up into the air around them. Shooting to the left in an attempt to flank his opponent Kanashimi was quickly drawn from the confines of it's sheath. The silver shine of the blade easily hidden amidst the sea of black above the two. Using his left foot once more to catch footing as he neared his opponent the unreleased blade was moved in a much faster motion towards the creatures lower right side. A testing blow of sorts. The main purpose of which was to at some point display the Division number that had been crossed off on the back of his haori.
In war one should always attempt to make the first move... Luckily Kensai's opponent never learned that small fact.

Fight! Fight!
"Well that's quite the relief."
With those words the man leaned in slightly, his attention had been caught by the words of the man. Was this of some interest to him? Perhaps Zack had missed something here? It had been just other five hundred years since he had worn his vice-captain badge with pride after all, many of his memories had simply faded into the sand around him to forever be hidden. With that the man before him spoke once more, his words quickly reaching the ears of Zack. Causing a light shiver to run down his spine for a moment.
"Here I thought you were another hollow. And the sixth? How have you survived here?"
Zack raised a brow at that, had the man forgotten already? Or did Zack not state he was with a patrol unit, no…He had most certainly spoken about how he had been scouting out the area. That was when he tried to get the captain before him to leave, yet it was a failed attempt. Never the less he replied to the man’s words with a light shrug.
“I am here with a scouting unit, I have been on the surface world for the past five-hundred years with you and everyone else.”
He said with a slight mocking tone, it was obvious the man was not going to fall for this little act. So he may as well take the time to goad him into combat or at least mock him. It obviously was not the best insult in the world, Zack was never to good at insults to be honest. He always spoke better with his blade than with his lips. Hopefully the man before him would come to realise that. Zack had a number of things on his side while the man before him did not, Zack had the numbers, many within the fortress would come help if they knew that the man Zack was against in fact a commander. Zack also knew the area, which may seem little to be proud of seeing as to the naked eye it was a desolate desert. Yet beneath them was a forest, a forest of menos and creatures that would seek harm to the man before Zack. The great thing was, Zack knew how to enter the forest with little trouble.
As his hand fell slowly to his weapon his eyes quickly caught the movement of his foe, it seemed the fray would soon unfold. Zack had only fought against a few dual wield opponents in his life, to be honest he found them harder opponents to defeat. Yet, they were not without their faults. One of the largest faults was the weakness of grip, having one hand on a weapon made it a great deal easier to disarm. That would be the main goal, to disarm and strike. An interesting thing was how the man did not grip the handle, he only seemed to rest it in his hand. As if wondering if to attack or not…
"You realize, I was a former Captain of the Sixth division."
Zack broke a smile at that, he knew all the first four captains before his own. Senkai, Kensei, Jera and Belag…He knew some information about each other them, he used to know a great deal more. Their tactics, their abilities, but as the years followed past him the memories of these people were lost. Yet, the chances were likely he was one of the four. In the end, there were not many captain of the sixth division, due to how long each lived for. The man however had made the fight a little easier for Zack, knowing it or not. Zack knew a lot about the 6th division, he was after all the vice captain before he left on his mission. With that the rest of the words flowed out from the man, carrying a much colder tone than before now.
"Such an action. Maybe the sixth division changed when I left it, but such an action would never be acceptable towards one of higher rank."
Hearing the words of the man Zack nodded lightly, his heart beat now beginning to slow. A wide smile upon his face, with that he spoke out as he drew his weapon slightly from the sheath, showing a mere inch of the weapon. “Perhaps when you were my higher rank, yet out here on the desolate sands…the chances are I am your superior.” He said as his right foot moved slightly forwards, spreading his footing. With that the foot twisted and steadied his stance even more, a wide grin upon his face as he watched the man with keen eyes. He had never faced a commander before, so that would be interesting. If this man was in fact a commander that is. With that his eyes caught the tension building in the man’s legs, ‘so attack already.’ He thought to himself as the grin stayed placed upon his face.
With that the sand was kicked up around the man, he thought that would help him? Zack used that trick even before he was the tenth seat. A simple trick like that would not help him unless used correctly, and in Zack’s eyes it was not used correctly. The sand seemed to surround both of them, perhaps pushed up into the air by using his own spiritual pressure? That was not a bad idea, yet. If the sand could be pushed up by spiritual pressure then it could easily be pushed down again. With that he caught the movement of the man, the cloud of sand made it hard to watch the figures movement, yet far from impossible. Then he watched as the man begun to close the gap, his weapon ready for the strike. Now Zack’s leg slowly moved in, and quickly he moved onto the balls of his feet. His first approach was to overpower the man, seeing as Zack’s brute strength was far greater than the average person’s.
As the man drew close he watched as the sword swung out violently for his lower right side, a simple slash would not be enough to catch this man out. Not yet at least. With that Zack quickly jumped above the blade, his hand tightening around his weapons handle as he cleared his opponent’s slash. As he reached the peak of his jump, only about three foot or so high, his eyes caught the emblem on the man’s back. So he was indeed of the 6th, or he had simply taken the haori from a past captain. Surely one of them would have died in the war, if not before. Now the man was slightly open, not enough to exploit fully, but enough to take advantage of.
By taking the first strike he had allowed Zack to measure his opponent’s skill, even if still very inaccurately. With that his left hand pressed against the lower part of his sheath as he drew his weapon with a clean and fluid motion. It was obvious he had been doing this for centuries now, after all Iaidô was one of Zack’s favoured styles. The slash was aimed for the opponent’s neck, a simple beheading move was what Zack aimed for. Not only that, on the return fall he was aiming to land standing upon his opponent’s first blade. Pressing it against the sands if possible, be careful to smother his feet in reiatsu to avoid being cut. Now, he would like to see how a commander would avoid his attacks. The wicked smile still spread across his face.
"Fare-well."
He muttered under his breath lightly, yet he did not see this as the end. If this killed his foe, then it was obvious he was not a commander.

Another staple of battle was the effective management of information. How much you let the enemy see generally determined your standing, and for the most part this initial attack had bled out more then enough insight into Kensai Enkei's fighting style. Or at least that's how he'd purposely situated it. The sluggish attack meant to send his opponent away, the purposeful exposing of his designated squad from days long past. All these things were apart of the ruse that Kensai was playing on. Even the attack itself. A lavish anger fueled rage? There was no such thing as rage during battle for the Commander... Unless it served to ignite some sort of ploy...
There were dozens of questions to be had. The first of which was if this man was in fact a shinigami. As far as Kensai could discern he was. The reliance upon a weapon indicated by his hand's nervous movement... The reluctance to jump head first into battle. If the Commander was to place a bet on it. He would in fact side with the man being a former member of his old squad. Still... The actions and behaviors detailed one beneficial fact for Kensai. He wasn't apart of the squad during his tenure. There was no intimate knowledge of his fighting style. The twin Zanpakuto, a huge rarity wasn't so easily used to determine even a name... No this Shinigami wasn't aware of exactly who Kensai was.
It was almost humorous. How this man who'd had that slight twinge of fear at the sight of a white haori was now so brave... How the simple disclosure of a squad seemed something to instill a sort of confidence that he didn't find when staring down an enemy. The man so rigid and correct, so unwavering when it came down to the rules wasn't someone to take lightly, and the boy's next move proved he didn't comprehend such a thing.
When he launched straight up into the air to avoid his attack, it was like domino's falling. The first initial mistake the boy had made had caused yet another grave failure in strategy. The force of Kensai's attack caused him to pivot slightly at the miss, and he didn't take the time to fight it. Rather allowed it to follow through bringing him in prime position to set himself up beneath the man who was descending rapidly. Left hand maneuvered quickly to bring forth Nagasume from it's sheath, the blade flipped to ensure it was seated properly within his hand. Of course pretending there was no speed had it's drawbacks.
Before he could position a proper counter the blade of his enemy seemed to come out towards his neck. The sword moving far too fast to discern how long it was or how far back he'd need to move. So there was a far simpler solution. Kensai quickly extended the blade held firmly in his left hand out to parry the incoming attack his other hand using the momentum of the outward strike to thrust itself up at the man's midsection. Aiming for his sword and not Kensai's body itself was as bad a mistake as jumping into the air.
One of the beautiful perks of regularly using a dual sword technique was the strength both arms procured. If this supposed ex-Fuku-Taicho wanted to escape with both his lungs... He was going to need to act fast.

Don't look down on me!
Then Zack jumped into the air and felt the unbuttoned jacket flutter lightly in the wind he could not help but feel like he had made a mistake. Which he quickly realised, being in the air made it hard to move and dodge. Luckily, shinigami had a little trick to get out of situations like this. As the man’s attacked missed he watched as the momentum of the strike carried him forwards and allowed him to pivot, ‘cheesy bastard.’
He thought to himself as he watched the man with ever growing concern, what would happen next? Would he simply be cut in half by this foe? No! That was not the way Zack would die, once he sees the body of Aizen before him he will die…not before.
With that he watched as the man drew his second blade, this was the moment he was dreading. Facing against two swords, but he would not let the fear swallow him. He would relish in this moment, being able to experience the skill of a dual wielder at his level was a gift. Most over two weapon fighters will seem like simple opponents once Zack survives this man, which he intends on. He intends on stealing the heart from the man’s chest and showing it to him, though perhaps malicious he was sure his opponent would appreciate such a way to die.
With that Zack slashed out, he would not simply be struck down so early in a fight, he would not allow such an action to take place upon these sands. The blade sliced through the air and drew close to his opponent quickly, yet it seemed it was not quick enough. Sadly, his opponent seemed to be able to react quickly, parrying the blade away with a splutter of sparks as the two weapons met. So close, yet so far it seemed. However, now was not the time to be caught up in what could have been.
As it seemed the man was carrying out a counter, aiming to strike Zack dead in the mid-section.
It seemed he was too slow to slam his feet into the weapon, yet not all was lost. Far from it, there was still more to be learnt from his little encounter. As soon as his eyes caught the glint of the blade the reiatsu begun to build up under his feet at an alarming rate. It was not enough to stop his decent but it was enough to give him a platform to act from, which was all he needed. As the blade drew closer he kicked off as hard as he could to his left, dodging the attack just. Feeling the blade rip through his clothing and nick at the skin of his right ribs, a small splash of blood trailing away from the faint scratch as he struck the white sands. Quickly rolling back up onto his feet and turning to face his foe, his weapon raised for the defence.
The distance between the two was not very much, a few feet if anything. So quickly he kicked off backwards, adding about five more foot to the gap between them. A small smile upon his face as his sight sieved through the sand around them, with that the grin fell as he lifted his left hand and brought it down in a sudden motion. His spiritual pressure building up slightly, causing the sand to floor again. Clearing the air once more.
“What a relief.”
He said with a light tone, his eyes glinting with a dark intent as his left hand rose once more. His palm facing out to his foe, within a splinter of time words rushed out of his mouth once more. A much more serious tone surrounded them now, he would take this fight a little more seriously now. It seemed simply swinging his sword at the foe would not work out to well. If he wanted to wound him he would need a little more power.
“Hadô, number 58. Tenran.”
With that there was a sudden build up of energy in the hand of Zack, the energy fluttering violently as it built up. Within three seconds it was ready, his eyes ever fixed on the man. His hand pointing in his direction as best as he could, as the energy was soon was at its peak it lashed out from the palm of Zack. The swirling colour of black and red seemed to engulf much before Zack, the tornado like strike going for a good forty foot before dying away.
With that his hand gripped his weapon once more, both hands holding it tightly as he stood his ground. His sense waiting to pick up anything to alert him of his opponent’s position. He was sure there was much more of this fight to be had.

(OOC: For the record, I have ALWAYS wanted to pull something like this off in RP XD)
First blood. It was the perenial moment in a battle. The only part that really held weight other then the end result... It instilled fear in some, inspiration in others... But for a stoic being like Kensai Enkei it held nothing, but a sign he'd missed. He'd seen it many times before, a single blow that didn't kill, merely wounded... The red crimson elixir that almost all creatures oozed out creeping up on his opponent like some ancient voodoo. Too bad first blood didn't always mean victory. Not that Kensai even doubted for a second he'd not walk away from this fight.
To his opponents it was arrogance, to his allies it was confidence... To Kensai it was merely his way of dealing with things. He was a tool to be used in the vindication of good. A weapon that was meant to destroy all the corrupt and unorganized clutter that dared danger others... But that didn't mean death was beyond him. He could see it, in those convoluted thoughts of complex anarchy that systematically took his thinking. This wasn't where he'd die... But yes the concept of death? Kensai Enkei was accepting of such an ideal.
The boy had used his reiatsu to help give him leverage. Used it to dart to the left only barely being grazed by the tip of Nagasume. And it was a clever move. Unfortunately it was obviously more instinct then anything else. The sheer movement between his step to the left and his subsequent landing on the ever shifting sand was evidence of this. Why anyone ever chose to land on such a constantly shifting surface when they had perfect footing in the air was beyond him. Of course the quick step back showed he was thinking again.
Normally Kensai would have shot forward and kept this fight close, but the slight increase in his opponents reiatsu perked a slight idea. It was yet again a great idea this boy had in theory... He'd shown the man proof he was in fact a shinigami... While at the same time managing to play on a seemingly apparent weakness. Of course theories never play out as they're intended. While this child saw before him a skilled dueler... He took too many steps forward assuming that kido wasn't another of Kensai's skills... And if reasoning served right... That the two zanpakuto he clenched would keep him from a counter.
It was one of the first things he'd learned to make his unique sort of fighting style near flawless. You never kept distance without knowing you were capable of avoiding a ranged attack. Having both hands tied up with their grip upon his weapons was reason enough not to be forced into chasing an opponent... Of course this terrain was a sort of advantage in that respect. The energy was being charged, when it was to the point of no return Kensai Enkei kicked into action. His own reiatsu flaring momentarily channeled into the tip of the same blade which proudly held the man's blood. A slight smirk formed as his gaze remained ahead.
A quick move of his left arm brought the tip of his sword still coated in his own energy to the sands below. Yet again erupting in order to throw a great deal of the white reiatsu heavy matter into the air. The sound of his opponents Hado reached the Commander's ears. It was time to move. The distance the boy had created seemingly enough to ensure he'd get out just fine. The right was his destination to ensure the sand remained in the air to take most of the brunt of the kido's force. Still little can be completely certain, and as the sand shifted up, so too did it slip from beneath his footing causing his motion to be a bit more sluggish then even his facade had originally been.
The torrential burst of reiatsu exploded upon the sand causing the material shielding his left arm to be singed and left in ruin. Skin taking on an almost tint at such heat. Still the wounds were mostly cosmetic. And the opportunity once more presented was almost too good to be true. Though he had been given ample distance to avoid the attack, it also supplied his opponent a tad bit more time to avoid him. Shooting forward amidst the cover of sand and fading remains of the kido Kensai brought both blades before him crossing them like scissor. As he exited the large falling wave of sand blades went first aimed at his opponent.
He'd force him to retreat, using the blades like their positions intended... Hopefully he could cleave this Shingami in half, it certainly would mean less weight to carry back.

The moon was shinning...
As the energy from the attack blasted out he watched as his foe created his makeshift defence. With a sign of anger on his face he watched as one of his power powerful kido attacks was simply nullified by the cascading sands. Which he must admit, was a great annoyance to watch. Yet at least he knew his foe was not invincible, he had to throw up a defence. Shinigami like the man before him did not have the small trait that Arrancar had, Hierro. A natural armour, some of the higher ranks may have been able to stand that blast due to the simple fact that they had Hierro. Yet this man was not, Zack was treating him as an Arrancar opponent. Which was not what he was, he had areas that could be exploited that the Arrancar did not. However, this in turn meant he had areas of strength that the Arrancar did not. Such as his Ban-kai.
With that the man smashed his way through the sand, his energy still lingering in the air a little. His eyes watched as the man ran towards Zack, his weapons positioned into a scissor like position. Excellent, this was good in Zack’s eyes. With the two weapons like this it would be much easier to block the weapons with his single blade. Then there was the speed of the man, and with speed came momentum. A law of physics that no one, from what Zack has seen, has been able to overcome. With that he lifted his weapon slightly higher as he begun to estimate with the weapons would slice, his stance now beginning to weaken a little. Not because he was tired, not at all. It was to help him carry out the plan he had running around in his head. With that Kensei smashed into him, Zack’s weapon slamming into the middle of the swords pushing them back slightly. The sparks flying wild as the forces opposed, yet, in less than a second Zack was knocked back.
With one hand on his weapon’s handle and the other on the end of the blade he kept the opponent’s blades at a fair distance away, his arms out stretched as far as possible. Using the momentum of the man he begun to roll backwards, as soon as his back begun to make contact with the floor his left leg quickly shot up aiming to kick the man in the stomach while rolling him over his head. The move had a name, it was Tomoe Nage. A move Zack had used many times before in numerous spars and fights, normally it worked out well. If it did then he would quickly roll to the wide and spring up onto his feet, his weapon raised for the defence.
Yet, if the move did not work and his foe did not fly over the top then he would quickly carry something else out. If he was too slow the chances would be he would get impaled by his foe, rolling to the side he attempt to avoid any strikes the man made while Zack was on the floor. His energy however building up once more, this time it was much quicker than before. As he rolled out of the way his left hand darted out and pointed towards the chest of his foe and a few simple words leaked from his move.
“Hadô 4. Byakurai.”
He spoke as the energy shot forth from his finger tips, the electricity snaking in the air for a moment or two. The two of them were close, meaning the chances of dodging this attack was slim. Yet he had to remember his opponent was a commander, so it should not be beyond him to dodge a move of this level. He only hoped he could wound him sound and tip the scales in his favour slightly. After all, he didn’t like the idea of using his Shikai and Bankai was even less likely to use. So he would just have to hope his opponent didn’t released his weapon to any degree. If the strike missed or not it did not matter, once the attack was finished he would quickly roll to the side and get to a standing position before raising his weapon into defence.
Either way it didn’t matter, they both came with him in the same position. Once carried out he would quickly kick off of the ground, the sand around him being kicked up into a thin dust as he covered the distance between him and his foe. His body was kept low and his eyes were locked on his foe, he had covered just over half the distance he would vanish. Invoking shunpo he would aim to appear behind his foe, slashing downwards violently. Aiming to slice the man down his back.

Time was beginning to add up. This fight, regardless of how amusing or fun was beginning to fail to meet Kensai's goals. As he shot forward bursting from the sand with his swords in a scissor like fashion his opponent didn't even move. This was perfect, yet another mistake to help ensure this victory didn't draw itself out too far. Taking the brunt of the force of both of the Commander's blades was a bold move. Unfortunately bringing in a dual wielder this close was also in a sense a form of suicide. The momentum and power behind his maneuver shot them backwards seeming to throw off the boy's footing. As long as Kensai continued to push forward he'd continue to lead his opponent backwards wherever he wanted.
That was until the leg was brought up in an attempt to kick Kensai. Eyes easily caught such a move being so near to one another. His analytical mind raced coming up with a seemingly perfect solution. He'd need to use the momentum, to allow this to go through without causing any significant damage. Nagasume being the bottom of the scissor shifted down along his opponents blade in an instant more pressure applied with Kanashimi to ensure the boy remained off balance. It wasn't an attempt to cut the leg, rather Kensai aimed to bring the hilt down to intercept his opponents knee.
The power behind the leg significantly reduced as no longer both swords remained locked with the Shinigami's. Kanashimi remained locked now at a slight horizontal angle meant to ensure the boy couldn't turn the tables too soon. Still at a near distance the man's lips parted, "Bring me solace, Nagasume." He spoke clearly, the blade of the zanpakuto turning an almost opaque white it's glow only illuminated due to the pitch black sky. Just as the blade began to glow the extended finger and words spoken indicated yet another kido was going to be fired.
Once more distance would be the main issue, and with no make-shift defense it was time to rely on the sword clenched within his right hand. Still the sword was free, capable of being used to easily stab his opponent... Sadly the byakurai would ensure that didn't come without a price. Kensai had to forgo the chance to critically wound his opponent. "Show me existence!" He called out in a yell this time, the timing needed to be perfect. The sword burst into a flurry of white that engulfed the two, only to quickly reform as a small shield before the blue energy forming at the man's fingertip.
The power of the kido erupted against Nagasume the pressure of the blast alone separating the locked swords and forcing Kensai back. Feet desperately moved to quickly reacquire footing the front of his haori tattered and burned thanks to the Hado that had just been used. Still clenching Kanashimi in his left hand the right remained open his palm facing the man. At least he'd ensured this mysterious Shinigami had taken the brunt of his own attack.
"I suppose if Kido doesn't work, you could just continue using Kido." He said in a mocking tone. Kensai would most certainly need a new uniform when this ordeal was over... What a shame that was.

Forget what you heard...
As Zack carried out his plan he quickly lashed out with his leg, aiming to use it as the pivot to knock his opponent over himself. Yet it seemed he speed was just not enough and it seemed his opponent was able to block the attack, slamming the hilt of his weapon into the knee of Zack. Stopping it in its path, ‘Lucky git.’
He thought to himself, if he was quicker then the man would be on his back by now.
As the two still battled in strength a few light words left the mouth of the man, something that Zack knew far to well. It was a release, the words were obvious in that respect. They held the supposed name of his blade, while bearing no real meaning. All releases seemed to be that, words that bore no meaning by themselves to anyone bar the wielder.
“Bring me solace, Nagasume."
With that watched as one of the blades slowly begun to sway between the colours, finally resting upon a light opaque colour. Casting a shadowy illumination across the desert. Not wishing to stay any closer than need the Kido was quickly put to use. With that more words were spoken by the man. Was he aiming to release bankai? That would be a real pain this early on.
"Show me existence!"
He had been expecting the sudden jump in spiritual pressure that was well associated with Bankai, yet nothing happened. So it seemed it was the ability of the weapon, which was a bit of a relief. However it was not something to disregard, he was still at a major dis-advantage. With that the two were quickly surrounded by a white aura, this was not going to end well…Yet the aura quickly formed into a small oval shield before Zack’s fingers. ‘Shit.’
With that the kido made contact and quickly exploded, the force was nothing to great seeing as the kido it self was a weak number. Yet it was not something he would just shrug off the second after it happened. One thing happened which Zack was happy about, the weapons were no logner interlocked. No longer was it a fight of sheer strength. With that Zack was blasted back along the floor a small distance before he was able to roll backwards back up onto his feet. His eyes watching as the man struggled to gain his footing from the blast.
"I suppose if Kido doesn't work, you could just continue using Kido."
He heard the mocking tone of the man but Zack only broke a smile at the words as he gave a faitn shrug. With a glint of arrogance in his eyes he spoke once more, his words calm and relaxed. Even though the fight was not fully in his favour he had begun to calm down. He would be able to tthink straight now.
“Tell me...Did you have to release your Shikai to block a grade four Hadô?’
He said with a wide smirk as he raised his weapon lightly. Seeing as his foe was now in shikai it seemed he too would have to break the first seal, oh how fun. With that he begun to spin the weapon light in his hand as his eyes focused on the man once more.
“Guess now we can play seriously?”
With that silence swept between the two as Zack gripped the weapon tightly, the blade pointing to the sands beneath him. Taking in a deep breath he then exhalied, a fine mist escaping his lips as he spoke a few faint words. “Run forth Aka Uma.”
With that the blade begun to emit a bright blue colour, the weapon seemed to not be too concerned. Why so? It was obvious his opponent was not an easy one? Perhaps Zack had over looked something his weapon had not, that seemed likely after all. Sooner of later the weapon would speak of it. With that the weapon let out a bright flash, the spiritual energy quickly escalating. The light enough to blind his foe, that was it he did not block the light. Zack never knew why the weapon did it, only that it did. Perhaps a defence mechanism.
When the light finally faded away, a second or so after the light itself shone out, Zack stood there still and silent armed with a new weapon. His face now serious and his breathing lazed. In his right hand was now his shikai, a Naginata. The pole itself being pure black in colour, small red horses running up it. Yet you would have to be close to see them. At the top of the pole rested the blade, either side of the blade differeing. One smooth yet sharp, the other having a jagged touch to it.
A smile slowly spread across his face as he vanished from sight, invoking shunpo. Appearing behind his foe, he was a good five foot from his foe. Enough to be out of the man’s reach, or so he hoped. With that he swung the weapon out in a large arc, aiming for the stomach of his foe. The momentum and power in the strike was great enough to make it hard to block, yet the most interesting thing was how the weapon was shrouded in a red aura, anger. It was one of his shikai abilities, Fury of hell. It heightened his weapons cutting power by a fair amount, 45% if Zack had calculated it correctly. Making all of the weapon, even the pole, deadly. He was sure blocking the attack barehanded would be impossible, the weapon was capable of cutting through the armour of the high level Espada. With the weapon swung he would quickly drop low, his legs spreading into an almost full splits, with that he would carry on the swing once more and strike for his foes legs.

There wasn't a real dire need to release the Zanpakuto contained within his firm grip. It was the reason his other blade, Kanashimi remained sealed. There wasn't a threat to his life, rather a need to ensure he was fresh in terms of his skills. After all, these opponents only seemed to require less and less effort. Rarely was there someone with whom a release would be completely necessary. So for this tiny little ant hill... Kensai Enkei had decided to let one of his swords stretch it's legs so to speak.
The words that came back to him were rather lack luster. Certainly not the sort to leave one in angry or even slightly upset manner... There wasn't even a catchy slogan or some villain-y sounding reference. In terms of epic fights this most certainly wasn't going to be one. And that in of itself was a minor disappointment to the Commander. Still when the mysterious Shinigami got the distance he seemed so thrilled for Kensai returned to his defensive.
Choking up on the hilt of Kanashimi the Katana was gripped even tighter, his right hand moving the rigid shield closer. It took not even a second for the white formation to burst into a cloud of white significantly larger. His gaze remained still on the opponent before him as the man spoke out. This was something to be expected of course. If he didn't release his blade against a Commander level opponent he'd be dead for sure... Still the bright light was something of a worry. Quickly his right hand pulled back the mist moving even closer to Kensai seeming to stand between the bright light that the man's blade emitted and his own eyes.
Still the bright light provided a sight of his opponent even through such. When it finally settled it was only long enough for the Commander to catch a mere glimpse of the long pole arm now in his opponents possession. Range. That was going to be his angle now. Fitting of someone who enjoyed moving about rather then confronting an opponent head on. The man vanished and only due to the previous moments could Kensai Enkei predict where he would arrive.
Not fast enough to make an attack prior to his opponents there was still one trick to be made. Fingers spread out as his arm extended itself the flurry of white reiatsu shooting forward in a brilliant cascade of purity. The best aspect of pole arms was their power. Of course this was a power that could only be harnessed through planting ones feet. Therein would lie his opponents lack of movement. A sort of petrification even if it was temporary. The mist easily coasted through the air landing just behind Kensai.
Though the mist would ensure he'd have a decent manner with which to counter his opponent, their still was a problem to deal with. The Naginata that sped through the air like some sort of vicious creature hungering for the flesh of another. Raising his left arm as it held Kanashimi the blade was brought up with the tip facing down. A simply defense meant to merely to absorb the impact of the Naginata. Feet were loose on the sand below easily allowing his body to move along with his opponents strength rather then against it.
Still the follow up attack would only be condemning on the opponent. Aiming for the legs it wasn't too much of an issue to leap off in the same direction he'd been pushed. Legs carefully lifted to ensure the blade of the pole arm didn't so much as shred his clothing. Of course the white mist would have also had it's chance to settle about his opponent. It seemed as if Kensai's opponents release had benefited the commander more then it had benefited it's user. And that alone was rather amusing...
But if one thing had been taught to the rather aged Shinigami, it was that there was never reason to underestimate someone's release. No matter how things looked.

Hells yeah! Hells yeah!
Zack watched as his weapon was swung outwards to his foe, clanging against the blade of his weapon. It seemed the man was not going to put up much of a defence, nor try to parry him in attempt to open Zack up. That was an error on his part, with the release of his blade Zack’s defence and offensive power raised a great amount. The main difference between his weapon and others if that it could think and act on its own, there would be no delay for when Zack would attack or defend. The weapon could do that without having to wait for Zack. Making him that much faster.
With that second attack the man simply used the force of Zack’s own attack to push himself back, so be it. If he wanted to create distance that could be his own choice, creating the distance in a fight was not always a good idea. A lot of the time staying close and forcing an opponent back would win you the fight. The opponent would eventually be over powered, miss-step or something with a negative effect and the deciding blow would be dealt. With that Zack watched as the mist seemed to settle around him, with gritted teeth he kicked off backwards and landed about ten or so foot back. Skidding lightly against the sand for a moment or two, pulling himself out from the cloud.
He didn’t know what this mist did, but he was sure that if it appeared due to him releasing his weapon then it must have a use. Most likely offensive in Zack’s eyes, if it was primarily defensive then it would have remained around the man, instead of surrounding Zack also. With that he slowly spun the weapon in his left hand and raised his right, a small light glistened in his hand and slowly he moved it before him is a wave pattern. With that he slowly vanished, not only with sight but also his spiritual pressure to a degree. It did not vanish completely, it was only toned down. The commander would have to be very skilled to detect him, for Zack had been around Arrancar for five-hundred years and had made it crucial to learn how to avoid pesquisa. To his knowledge shinigami had nothing as accurate as the pesquisa, then again...Five hundred years is a long time.
Now he stood invisible, his feet being held just above the sand by a low concentration of his spiritual energy. Removing the foot prints from the sand beneath him, with that he darted forwards at the man. His feet treading firmly into the ground, and hence foot prints showing. Yet this is what he wanted, deceit. As he drew within five foot of his foe he dived forwards, and quickly invoked Shunpo once more. Now appearing above the man, his momentum pushing him over his foe. His weapon stabbed down in a violent motion, aiming to strike the back of the man’s skull. There was no longer any coating of spiritual energy around the weapon, it was obvious from how the man blocked his weapon with ease that even with it enhanced it seemed to cause little trouble. So he would initiate another power, as he lunged forwards the energy built up. Then when it reached its maximum range the energy was released in the form of lightening.
The area spread of the attack was large, the large of Zack’s attacks. However, for this reason it was also one of his weakest. The electricity would crackle out of the weapon, if the blade had struck his foe it would surge through his body. If he had missed, it would form a somewhat circular cage, albeit without any physical presence. Covering a fifty foot radius, he was confident it would hit the man. Even if he didn’t hopefully the opponent would realise that he was not too simple of an opponent. With that the momentum of the run up would carry him over his foe and eventually he would land a good five foot away from the man. His weapon spinning to face wherever his opponent was. If he had managed to escape unarmed.
With that the electricity would vanish and so would any signs of his position, with light steps he would then begin to move slowly around his foe. His feet held lightly above the sand once more, avoiding any of the sand.
Lets go!
{{Note: I was slightly confused by your post at this bit. 'Fingers spread out as his arm extended itself the flurry of white reiatsu shooting forward in a brilliant cascade of purity. ' So could you explain it to me? If it effects my post then say and I will edit.}}

(OOC: Haha sure thing. Basically Kensai's Shikai is controlled due in large part by his hand. The motion made moved the mist around him to ensure when Zack attacked again he too would be caught within it. It's effect is that anything contained within the mist will be cut, though the severity changes based on how long the person is within as well as only physically appearing on the targets body *after* it exits.
So in a sense when Zack left the mist he'd be left with some minor surface wounds on visible skin. Nothing horribly major as the time spent within was brief! But yeah, there is a delay so it's no need for a fixing of your post, just keep it in mind for next time.)
The sorts of fighters who rushed head first into every battle were the kind Kensai Enkei was best suited to fight. Katsuro Susumu had after all been one of the Commander's prime sparring partners... And who better existed to teach someone how to handle and deal with a direct approach to a fight? Was there anything wrong with the style? Of course, but flaws were inherent in every sort of style of fighting. Even the methodical tactical approach that the Shinigami took to each of his fights was littered with possible exploitations. Still against this sort of direct fighter... They'd be near impossible to really capitalize on.
A valuable bit of information had been found here. The Espada, and whatever the hell this boy was had no clue of the Jinchuu's true strengths or power. The Commanders were relatively unknown. That was going to help out a lot for this sort of war. As the other Shinigami shot back out of the mist a delighted smirk crept onto the tall man's face. He didn't get it, didn't realize that the second he'd escaped he'd once more allowed Kensai to draw blood. Nagasume's effect may have been amplified by the time spent within it's mist, but with the difference in the two's spiritual pressure... There was no doubting at the very least this boy would feel the sting of Nagasume's teeth.
When he shot back and disappeared Kensai wanted to pause to give the child a small applause. It was clever. If only he'd done it before releasing his Zanpakuto and allowing Kensai the chance to fully catch a feel for that strangely dark reiatsu. Perhaps the eyes of someone lesser wouldn't have been able to follow the trace trail of reiatsu the boy had left... But before the eyes of one of the oldest Shinigami still alive, it was merely a moment before he could pick up the pace again.
Eyes didn't follow their target. Didn't allow him the knowledge that perhaps Kensai had kept tabs on him. Being even just one step behind his opponent could have possibly been fatal here... Still when the man charged forward with yet another strike Kanashimi was drawn up prepared to parry. Gripping the hilt tightly eyes followed as the reiatsu collected and this mysterious boy launched directly above the Commander. He'd not learned his lesson... He'd once again put himself in a position where avoidance would be limited...
Shunpo was not something that had a maximum capability. There were always ways to move faster. To train yourself to go that extra inch further then a future opponent. And no one had trained for such an event more rigorously then Kensai Enkei. He'd shot forward the same way his mark had come from, but before he could make it out of the target area the blue electricity began to circle his position. While it was a bit of a hindrance there still remained a solution to even this tiny problem. His free hand balled up into a fist causing the white mist to once more condense. The shield like structure moved quickly above his head.
Still moving at speeds that'd be hard for any other being to follow the shield was used as a makeshift umbrella absorbing and reflecting the lightening away from his person. This boy may have been able to go invisible and hide his reiatsu til the last minute. But there was one thing he'd not counted on. Kensai knew how unlikely it'd be for his opponent to stray too far from him. His gaze shifted to his immediate area the small imprints that his weight alone caused in the sand the venerable target for his next strike.
Left foot led the charge his free hand opening as he raised the still sealed Zanpakuto above his head intending to bring it down just inches ahead of where the last foot print had been. His free hand again moving to help put more force behind his strike it's swift motion down and back bringing the white mist rushing back to surround himself and whatever he happened to hit... If this mysterious Shinigami wanted to simply circle his opponent... Then Kensai was going to need to show him action meant far more.
Chapter 1: The White Conflict
BLS' first plot event ended, the Jinchuu having rescued a few slaves and significantly increased their ranks. Though still far from equal, and not close to being ready for a head to head confrontation... The Jinchuu have proven that they are in fact a threat to the hollow who now claim ownership of the three realms.
