Footsteps resounded throughout the pale white palace, the blank walls contrasting the polished, shining black floor, so clean one could see their spitting image in it should they look down. They echoed clearly as not a word was said, the corridors empty of all but this one man, whose long, black hair was neatly kept, not a hair out of place, and streamed out behind him as he paced quickly through the corridors. The ruffles of his white noble's jacket, and the baggy white hakama, were the same. A single blade at his side, hidden in the fold of his jacket, bobbed up and down with each step.

Anyone who stared at this man could tell something was up - His face was devoid of expression, his lips straight and his features relaxed and yet stiff at the same time. But despite this, there was feeling to be found in his eyes - A restlessness. A fire. Coming to the end of the corridor he whipped his arm up and snatched the doorknob of the door ahead, twisting it before pulling the door open. Wordlessly he drifted through, allowing the door to shut quietly by itself as he entered the large room - like a great hall, featuring a row of pillars at either side of the room, but ultimately devoid of anything else. And that was when the wave came.

A great wave, an uproar of great reiatsu expanding outwards and filling the space almost, the pressure so intense that a lesser Arrancar or Menos Hollow would cringe under the weight, and crash to the ground. And the reiatsu itself, even, seemed like a flame - wisping outwards. Restless. Constantly flaring about. Something had happened during the last invasion of El Sol by the Jinchuu, and it brought something out in this enigmatic, noble figure. A desire for something that couldn't quite be named so suddenly. The Primera Espada drew his blade, and held it out in one hand, eyes gleaming as they inspected it's shining surface.

"The Jinchuu have become stronger, strong enough to match the higher Espada..." he remarked, his grip on the blade becoming more firm. He stared at the blade, realizing that perhaps it was time to put plans into motion.

She could feel the rage and tempered anger that seethed within her Master's soul as she Sonido into the massive hall, on one knee and her head bowed. Her large white robe hid her body as the hood hid her face from the outside world. The magnitude of the pressure that was being exerted just by her Master's reiatsu would have crushed any other lowly Arrancar, but not Lupe. Many times had she been in Master Reyes's presence when he had been angered, letting lose his vast power. A good amount of those times, she had ended up slamming into the walls before hitting the floor, unable to move her body. This time, was different though. Despite the fact that she had grown accustom to the weight of her Master's power, this time was so different. Something was bothering him more then anything else had. It was a bold move, but Lupe had to find out why.

"Master, may I ask what is bothering you so?" She asked so very meekly and gently. She kept any emotion from her voice, not wanting to sound desperate or needy. All she wished for, was to keep her Master happy, but to do that, she would have to find out what is wrong. As she waited for his answer, using the hand that was not holding her zanpakuto against the floor, Lupe tossed her hood off of her head, letting her hair fall around her face and onto the floor. She knew it would be disrespectful of her to hid her face from him, but she feared to look up from the floor. Master Reyes was capable of anything, but that didn't necessarily make him a cruel man. With this in mind, Lupe slowly stood, but avoided looking at Master Reyes, even though all she would look at was his back.

It was as she stood, did she notice that his blade was in hand. This didn't make Lupe uncomfortable, but it did make her worry more. So much was racing through her mind, but all she could do was focus on keeping herself from shaking and her face void of any emotional expressions. She had to be strong for her Master, but strength didn't keep her from feeling a sudden strike of fear for herself. She had not been at Master Reyes's side earlier, during his battle. She stayed within the white walls of her home. Surely she would be punished for such a idiotic act. This was something that was uncertain, but it was still a possibility. Had something happened to him in her absents! Quickly, Lupe bowed deeply, clenching the sheath of her zanpakuto with both hands. "I plead for your forgiveness Master! I should not have left your side, will accept any punishment you wish to give!"

Reyes hadn't heard the voice of his Fraccion at first, too focused on events that had passed, and his own feelings regarding them. His feelings had always been a subject he did not pry into much - Hollows were cannibalistic Darwinists, knowing only survival. Any 'feelings' one had consisted mostly of bloodlust, hunger and anger. Anything that stemmed from them was also considered natural. But there were also the more stoic ones such as himself, those who were able to commit abhorrent acts without batting an eyelash. These feelings he had... They were something a Hollow would naturally feel. He hid a lot of things behind his veil of coldness, but this was one thing he could not hide - Anger. A rage he hadn't felt in centuries.

Slowly he was drawn deeper into the recesses of his mind, his eyes transfixed upon his blade as he felt eager to use it, but a voice finally managed to catch his attention, and his flaring temper died down, as did his reiatsu pull back and restrain itself. Turning around, he stared out of the corner of one eye at his Fraccion, a young woman herself who was loyal as one could be. Turning around he stood facing her, his blade rising as he held his hand up before sheathing it back into the scabbard at his side, where it would rest for the time being. As she spoke aloud how she was willing to accept punishment, he shook his head.

"What I feel is not disappointment for one such as yourself, Lupe. Nor am I angry with you, nor do I recognize that you have done wrong. Rather, certain events have... Stirred me..." he remarked, turning his gaze along the hall, looking at the pillars which featured a Hollow-Mask carving in the top of each. One hand remained touching the hilt of his blade, fingers rapping against it. "The Jinchuu have proven themselves far more threatening - Twice now it has happened that one Shinigami was able to cut me, and by the same person no less. The fact that he was able to escape without dying is..." he trailed off, unsure how to finish. Slowly, his normally straight features shifted, his thin line of a mouth curling downwards at the sides in a frown whilst his brows ever so slightly furrowed.

"... Aggravating" the slight spark of his reiatsu again gave the words a weight it would have otherwise lacked. 'Aggravating' was an understatement.

Lupe's body snapped up straight in surprise, which showed upon her face. It wasn't possible, Master was a god among Arracnar. No one could ever lay a hand on him without feeling the touch of death upon their soul. Her shock quickly turned to rage. No one should even be able to come close to Master, especially a filthy Shinigami from the Jinchuu. She would hunt them down one by one and bring the one responsible's head back to Master on a silver platter. "Master! Let me go to the Living World! I'll find the filthy animal and bring him back to you in a cage!! She cried, enraged at the mere thought of a Shinigami being near her precious Master.

Gripping her Zanpakuto tightly, Lupe glared at the Master Reyes's feet. She should have been there with Master, instead of sitting within the white walls. She was a disgrace... and despite that Master was so kind to her. This thought calmed the rage within her soul. She had let him down, and yet, she was no punished for it, even though he had been attacked in her absence. She sighed deeply to herself, as she realized just how foolish her request had been. The Jinchuu that Master had fought had wounded him and gotten away, what chance did a lowly Numeros like herself have against such a foe.

Bowing low once again, Lupe spoke calmly. "Forgive me for my outburst Master. I was not thinking clearly, and had not been in control. It will not happen again, I promise." This time, she did not rise out of her bow. She remained looking down at the floor, at her hazed reflection on its surface. Among Numeros, she was one of the strongest, but compared to the Espada, she was nothing but a bug. It made her wonder sometimes why Master had ever let her become his Fraccion in the first place.

To weak to win, but to strong to lose. That was all she was.

His attention focused on the Fraccion before him, he watched with a barely raised brow as she began to speak, asking for permission to head to the Human World and capture this Shinigami that dared to lay a hand on him. It was the kind of loyalty he had accepted her as his Fraccion for, but regardless it was still quite surprising that, despite knowing what it would take to hurt him, she would still try to get vengeance. Yes, it was a loyalty he sought out in an Arrancar. It gave them drive, motivation to work their hardest. Something he valued. After all, any Arrancar that fought merely on the motivation to have fun was not good enough for him.

But regardless, as she finished speaking, she kept her head down, staring at his feet. An outburst on her part that was rather hasty. Not that he could complain - As much as he liked her drive, it would be preferable that she not hastily rush into things and get herself killed. Finding another Fraccion would be tiresome, and he had to admit, Lupe was hard to replace. Not Espada level, but strong nonetheless for a Numeros. Soon enough she had started speaking again, this time more respectful than the angry outburst had been, asking for forgiveness before promising not to make such an outburst again. Control was good, he would admit. It would be better she managed to keep herself more calm.

"You are forgiven. But remember, this Shinigami I speak of is a Commander - Taking him lightly is a foolish mistake" he commented, reflecting upon the man's abilities and his weapons, not just the Zanpakutoh but the nodachi he wielded, which was imbued with his own reiatsu, making it tough enough to withstand the high-level combat of Commanders and Espada. "The fact remains, however, that he has yet to force me to use my Ressurecion, whereas twice now I have had the pleasure of witnessing his own Zanpakutoh's Shikai. This information will serve well with the meeting..." he remarked, noting the meeting that was to be held amongst the top five Espada of both El Sol and Las Noches. A meeting of the greatest warriors under Aizen's demand.

Lupe nodded her head in acknowledgement to what her master was saying. He was right, rushing after such a powerful would be reckless and end with her own demise. There wasn't anything that she could do about the attack on her master. She was to weak to be of use in this situation, so it was best just to forget about the whole thing and focus on the know. So, pushing aside her thoughts of vengeance, Lupe dropped down to one knee, with her head bowed, as she would usually do in Master Reyes presence. There was always something to be down, it was just finding what, that was difficult.

"How may I, your faithful servant, serve you Master?" She asked calmly, and with deliberation. All she could do was serve him as well as she could and hope that he is pleased with her work, for that was her only goals. Her hollowed soul belonged to Master Reyes for the rest of eternity. Her crimson eyes narrowed slightly as she stared at the floor around her Master's feet. Perhaps there was nothing for her to do, what then. It had happened before, that Master Reyes had no instructions for her. Each time she ended wandering about aimlessly, feeling lost. Was it bad that she was completely dependent upon her Master that with specific instructions, she didn't even know what to do with herself.

Shaking her head ever so slightly, Lupe tried to rid herself of those thoughts as well. Such things may cause her to begin to question everything she has ever done. which may in turn cause her loyalty to falter. She was very sure that she could never do such a thing, but the possibility was always there. Such stupid thoughts, and ideas. These things should not be there in her head, none of it, for her Master did not say these things. This made Lupe's mouth twitch into a very small smile. Master, was the absolute.

The question was simple, oh so simple, but for a moment it made the Primera question his own mind - What did he have planned for her to do? To send her to the Human World for anything would be pointless before the Masked Council that was to be held and putting her on guard duty at the Slave Cells was likewise pointless, given that the Menos Hollow handed such a job well enough. He kept his thoughts moving quickly, knowing that an answer would be necessary. He knew that his Fraccion seemed to enjoy performing deeds for him when he asked them of her, but right now he was at something of a blank. But soon enough an idea came.

"Perhaps there is something I could ask of you..." he spoke slowly, pondering the idea a little more before continuing, deciding that it was worthwhile. A slender, spider-like finger rose up and pointed to her sword, kept always by her side as every Arrancar did. Unlike a Shinigami, an Arrancar's Zanpakutoh was a core part of them. Keeping it around at all times was a habit every one of them shared. But with his attention and no doubt Lupe's as well focused on the weapon, he continued.

"I am afraid that, as things stand, I may get a bit too rusty. Unlike Rio, I do not hold any guard duties except to guard Aizen's own life, and those who would wish to attempt such a thing are very few and far between. So how about, for a short while, you spar with myself..." he commented. Even if it was against a Fraccion who was below Espada level, practice and sparring in itself was enough to keep himself in form. Going without any practice, meanwhile, would be what made him rusty. And that was something he didn't want to happen.

"So, Lupe, do you agree, or would you prefer something more menial? I am afraid there is little else I can ask of you at this time..." he remarked, the words flowing off of his cool tongue. The ever expressionless face, a calm nobleman's mask, remained neutral as he spoke, although the desire to keep in practice was definitely there. After all, letting that Shinigami deal a third wound to him in a row would be an insult to the rank of Primera Espada.

Spar with Master Reyes? The shock from such a suggestion from him almost caused her to snap her head up and look at him. This was not something he had asked her before to do. Upon his comment about him not having much of anything else for her to be able to do, Lupe made the decision. If her master wished it, then she would gladly oblige. Slowly she stood, waiting to answer his request until after she was all the way up. "Of course Master Reyes. I would be more then happy to spar with you," She answered diligently and with a cool sense of control over herself.

She turned from him, and walked until she felt they were the right distance apart for the beginning of a spar. Turning, Lupe casted her hood, and shed the top of her robe, letting the crimson underside show as it fall around her waist. With her tightly clothe wrapped chest exposed, she took her stance, pulling her blade from its wooden sheath. She did this slowly, as she was in no rush to point her blade at her beloved Master. Such an idea would have never occurred to her if he had not suggested it. Stomach sickeningly twist as she tossed her sheath aside and placed both hands on the hilt, baring the edge of her Zanpakuto at Master Reyes. Legs spread wide, one foot in front and one in back, knees slightly bent, the women let her body take control.

She was aware that her Master wouldn't want her to wait for him to get ready since, well, as far as she knew he had no actually fighting stance. The fact that his hand was on his hilt was enough to say he was ready for her attack. So she pressed her feet firmly against the ground before rushing forward, but not too fast. A battle was not about speed and power, it was about patience, waiting for your openings before you strike. The Arracnar did not hesitate as she grew near, bringing her blade up as she was within range, she brought it down, execution style. It was a basic attack, but it was expected of her.

His movements had been quick, his reaction time swift as ever as his hand clasped the blade in his scabbard and drew it, pulling it out from it's wooden resting place and exposing the cold steel to the outside air. A simple, upwards swing performed in a graceful, elegant manner clashed with the blade of his sparring partner, stopping it in it's tracks. Pushing back against his opponent he hoped to push her off for a moment to swap the blade to his right hand - as it were he held his weapon in a reverse-grip with his left, a more defensive stance than his more typical fencer's stance. Of course, Reyes' fighting style, while mimicking a fencer's, was still different, given the nature of spiritual powers. It couldn't remain anything similar to a normal Human's with this level of fight, after all.

Regardless, following the initial attack he decided to change things a little. Showing good footwork he now began to step around Lupe, now giving simple thrusts and ripostes as he circled her. A means of testing her own footwork and reactions. He couldn't have his Fraccion waning in strength after all. He would much prefer that her power was waxing, much like the phases of the moon. A keen eye watched out for everything about her from the get-go, a habit of his - Whenever he let himself be absorbed in a sparring match or a fight, he ended up letting his tactical nature come through. It sought everything - Facial expressions, thought processes, attack patterns - Anything that was to be studied and learnt.

'She has good form, at least - Something the other Arrancar lack in their hundreds of years of mindless brawling. Either her own intelligence realizing a need for structure in her fighting style or a sign that something is left over from before' he noted as he fought. Granted, the fight had only begun, but the fact that she had chosen to assume a stance anyway proved, at least, that she was more willing to show form in her fighting style than the brutish Hollow and Arrancar that charged recklessly into battle. He admired that in a Fraccion - after all, he desired nothing less.

Quick, precise, that was Lupe expect of Master Reyes. He easily stopped her attack and proceeded without a break in stride, all Lupe could do was follow his example and continue without hesitation or fear of any kind. With only slight movements of her feet, Lupe was able to take her body in the opposite direction that her master was moving, all the while doing her best to keep his attacks from strike its target. Moving the blade behind her, pivoting, and sliding her feet along the ground as she knock thrusts aside, or simply moving her body away from the blade. She did these fluidly and easily, each swing of her blade was so very basic and simple, but still retained a uniqueness to the one wielding the sword.

She remained cool and calm as she did a dance of swords with her Master. Well aware that if Master Reyes wanted his attacks to land, they would, Lupe couldn't help, but fell a slight sense of pride in herself. She was doing quite well against her master. No longer feeling any doubts she had been holding when she had agreed to sparring against Master Reyes, Lupe decided to shake her temp up a little.

The young women suddenly dropped as she bent her left knee and let her right foot slide off to the side, keeping her leg straight. Once she was almost as low as she could go, the clever girl swung her sword from her right, slashing right for Master Reyes's legs. Regardless of whether the attack was effective or not, Lupe then switched all of her weight over to her right, using it to help her leap off to the side and into the air. Her body faced Master Reyes as she moved through the air, both her hands on her zanpakuto, which she held before her, centered between her thighs.

His Fraccion's footwork lived up to his expectations - she was able to move with him and fend off the strikes he made as he encircled her. As another strike thrust forwards aimed to pierce she made a quick counter-move, going on the offensive again - Ducking low under his attack she now held a low stance with her weight on one leg while the other was outstretched to the side. Her Zanpakutoh swiped through the air as it now swung towards his own legs. Reyes knew for a fact that anything less than a Captain's Shikai would not be able to hack through his legs due to his Hierro, but regardless it was always a reflexive action for him to dodge anyways - After all, he couldn't allow himself to be fooled by his own perceptions of an opponent's abilities. And so rather than let the blade hit he chose a better option.

Weight shifted in his body to his right leg and he quickly pushed off, springing to the side and out of the way of the sword, all the while keeping his own blade raised and poised to attack. But even as he moved it appeared that he was not the only one to have done so - His own Fraccion had followed up her initial move with a leap to the side, blade held up and ready as she sailed through the air. The two were now facing each other as they passed through the air, but Reyes was quick to act in the face of this development. A horizontal swing was made, aiming to come at her from the same direction he had jumped from, but such was only the first half of the move.

Following up the first swing reiatsu charged within his free hand, gathering together all at once. Having intended for the sword attack to take her attention away from it he now snapped his free hand upwards in a fist aimed for her midsection, intending to slam a close-range fiery-orange Bala into her following the initial horizontal slice. Now it had turned into a matter reactions - Could she react quickly enough to something twenty times faster than a Cero?

What a dilemma Lupe was in. She could dodge to one side, and be hit with Master Reyes's Zanpakuto, or dodge to the opposite side and be hit with a Bala. Of course, Lupe choose neither. Instead, pushing herself, the women Sonido out of the way, the blade and Bala both barely missing her. Using a Sonido at such a level for her was straining, but not outside her abilities. She stopped just to her Masters right. From there, she slashed the air, firing off a Bala. As soon as the Bala had fired, Lupe Sonido again. This time, as she came to a rest, her feet planted themselves about halfway up one the pillars in the majestic hall. However, this pillar happened to be the only one that was facing her Master's back directly.

Taking her chance, Lupe pushed off the pillar, causing a spider web of cracks to far along it, several splinters of the marble fell to the floor as the Numeros flew through the air. Gripping her Zanapkuto tightly with both hands, blade off to her right, and slightly angled towards her feet, Lupe flipped the blade so that the edge would be the correct direction to strike at her temporary foe. When she deemed herself close enough to strike Master Reyes, Lupe swung her blade, letting the light glimmer off of it. The Bala, would hopefully distract him long enough for her to be able to execute the strike.

Of course, Lupe was aware that, no matter what tactic or trick she pulled off, there was no way her hits were ever going to land. This spar would end with her beaten, and Master Reyes all nice and barely warmed up. She was like a buzzing fly to him, which he could swat and kill at any moment. Though, the fact that she was weaker then him didn't really bother her, as long as he did not abandon her due to that fact. She wished to serve Master Reyes for all eternity, until the very day her soul faded.

To his slight surprise his Fraccion proved capable of avoiding the quick succession attacks with a skillful use of Sonido, evading the blade and the Bala in one move and escaping his sword's range. His eyes followed her across the room as he readied his blade again and in haste moved towards her. However, for a brief moment she allowed herself to stop, standing ground as she fired off a Bala attack right back at him as he came. Ready to counter he brought his blade up and with reiasu empowering the Zanpakutoh he was able to cleave straight through the blast. The energy of her bullet of reiatsu dissipated to either side of his blade as he cut through.

But now his Fraccion had moved - a diversion attack, he realized instantly. He had seen the brink of death many times and had seen many different fighting styles, and with them many different thought processes. Some foes preferred to stand their ground - others decided that moving about and inflicting wounds with guerilla tactics was better. The fact she had suddenly switched from close-combat to more ranged attacks told him that there was a good chance she had chosen to open up a weak point with long range attacks and move in to deal the blow. And he had a good idea where she was.

Pivoting on his heels he snapped his head back behind him, catching her eyes as she moved in with a swipe of her blade, now right upon him. Any foe who had escaped one's sight with diversions always moved to a blind spot, that much he had known - and through applying this he knew where she had moved to and better yet, how to counter her tactics with his own. As the blade came down upon him, his free hand, the closest hand to his opponent, shot upwards and slapped the flat of the blade, pushing her attack off center and to one side where she could not hit him. And with his blade arm now poised he thrust it forwards to nick her side - after all, he didn't want to injure her badly, much less kill her. She was a good Fraccion.

There was no surprise, no shock when Master Reyes, with seemingly no effort at all, hit her blade barehanded and knock it away. Her attack had failed, she had expected as much. The chance of her successfully striking her Master were slim to none, not only because he was perhaps more then one hundred times stronger then herself, but she would have stopped herself before the blow would have it. She was just glad that her level of skill did not seem to be a disappointment to Master Reyes. These thoughts were rudely interrupted as her masters blade shoot at her. She couldn't redirect herself at her current momentum, thus, she had no way of escaping the blow.

Her eyes clenched shut as the blade slide across her side. It wasn't too deep that it would be a problem, but it wasn't her flesh she felt the cold zanpakuto slicing, it was her pride. In her mind she had just lost. If Master Reyes had been fighting her to the death, despite the fact he would have killed her earlier, but right there, he could have pierce her and cut her in two before she hit the floor. Which was what she did next.

Hitting the floor, Lupe rolled several times before she stopped on her feet, crouched low, with one hand on the floor to help her to stop. She skid for a ways before coming to a complete halt. Her head was down, her face was expressionless, but her casted down eyes showed her torn pride. "I have lost, Master Reyes. There is no surprise in that fact, but I am sorry that I was not more capable," She did her best to keep her voice emotionless, but a tone of dejection was still pretty clear. She was not fit to serve Master Reyes.

Reyes watched as his Fraccion fell to the ground and skidded backwards, away from his position until she finally managed to find her footing and stop herself, managing to come to a halt. With her eyes cast downwards towards the ground, he watched to see if she would move, but she did not. Instead, her voice met his ears, and despite her efforts to hide it he could easily hear that tone of dejection laced into her emotionless facade. His amber eyes kept focused on her kneeling form.

Silently he stepped forwards, not saying a single word. Slowly he neared his Fraccion, stopping just before her as she stayed there, face still looking down. One of his gloved hands now began to move from his side, reaching up to cup her chin and direct her gaze upwards, towards his own face, so that he could look her in the eyes. And despite what cold mask he wore, there was certain look to his eyes that was foreign. It was neither pity nor anger, nor any sort of admiration, either. It was a look shared between master and student, almost.

"'Sorry'? Who was it who taught you such a word...?" he asked rhetorically before continuing. "When one carries a sword, there is no 'Sorry'. Whether one fights for oneself, for another, for a belief or 'just because'... That blade will show no notion of apology. How can one move forwards by stepping back? Until your blade stops swinging, do not utter such a thing again - Push onwards and never give up" something had stirred within the Primera, a feeling he hadn't known in hundreds of years. Briefly the image of a rain of arrows and field of blades flashed in his mind, with infantry and cavalry hacking and slashing at each other. Blood spilled on wet grass and warriors who looked dead continued to fight. A single cry rung in his ears - A very familiar voice yelling out amidst the rain and bloodshed.

"Ne renoncez jamais! Ne dites jamais meurent!"
